Colours may vary from screen to screen but all fabrics are represented as accurately as possible. Samples are available on request but please note that we are unable to guarantee exact colour matching between batches. If necessary a stock cutting can be taken and posted to you for verification before an order is dispatched. Pattern repeats quoted are accurate to plus or minus 5% of the stated pattern repeat measurement. A minimum of 5% of the overall length should be allowed for shrinkage when placing orders. Please note that atmospheric conditions can affect curtains when they are hung. Customers should be aware of the possibility of movement due to humidity and condensation. Chapel Cottage Fabrics can accept no responsibility for shrinkage. Inherent Characteristics of Certain Fabrics Silks - There can be slight irregularities in the slubs. Issues with colour fastness may occur and therefore it is recommended that any item made up should be lined. Colour variation is also more common in this type of fabric (see above).Velvets - Velvet rolls should not be stood on their ends as this can create creasing. Velvets are best hung for two weeks before making up as the fabric is more prone than most to difference in atmospheric conditions. For example after being hung the curtains may drop or shrink in different humilities. Voiles and Sheers – Harlequin recommend joining (sewing) only the tops when working with this type of fabric. Flame Retardancy Certain fabrics are inherently fire retardant and this will be noted against the fabric details in the online shop. Some fabrics, included those listed as suitable for upholstery and loose covers, may need to be treated to conform to ‘BS5852 Part O and 1 (cigarette and match) 1979 for domestic upholstery’ and ‘BS5867 Part 2 1980 for contract drapery’. Please advise us if you need your fabrics treated. More information on fire retardancy can be found here. This will incur an extra charge of £3.00 per metre. Minimum order for this process is 5m.
